“I fitted a completely new fuel system to a 60ft steel boat, and after repairing the fuel tanks everything was spotlessly clean. We fuelled the boat (3000 litres of diesel) and everything started well. After a couple of short runs we noticed water in the pre-filter bowls so that was drained and monitored. This continued but we were not in a position to unload 2500 litres of fuel so I dosed the tank with Cyrus Marine which absorbs the moisture to allow it to be burnt off instead of separating in the tank and filters. After running the tank down, re-fuelling from a clean source and dosing again with Cyrus Marine, no further issues have arisen for over a year’s continual use.”

“I was called out to a launch fitted with 2x CAT diesels. It had been reported that the engines had been running erratically and failed to give full power. The fuel tank fillers are enclosed in a bund but the seals were missing from the filler caps so sea water easily leaked into the tanks.
“There was about a cupful of MBG removed from each fuel filter. Each fuel tank was dosed with Cyrus Eradicate and left for two days. Both engines were run for about an hour, new filters fitted and the launch has had no further problems.”
